“tell me about yourself”通常是很多公司面试的开场白。这个看似简单的问题常常不被面试者重视,殊不知这道题对面试结果起着至关重要的作用。面试官通过这道题能够考察面试者的表达能力,也能测试面试者是否自信以及是否有能力胜任这份工作。在回答这道题时,应该将重点放在介绍自己的优点和强项上,在面试的开场就给面试官留下一个好印象。

一种不恰当的回答是”What do you want to know?”这样的回答显得面试者对这个岗位没有充分的了解和准备。你需要自信的表现出自己,才能给面试官留下深刻的印象。

下面我们先来看一个正确的回答范例:

Well, I’m currently an account executive at Smith, where I handle our top performing client. Before that, I worked at an agency where I was on three different major national healthcare brands. And while I really enjoyed the work that I did, I’d love the chance to dig in much deeper with one specific healthcare company, which is why I’m so excited about this opportunity with Metro Health Center.”

通常面试官没有耐心听你长篇大论地诉说自己的故事,面试者只需要选择两到三件有意思的经历来进行描述并说明你的性格和特点即可。上面的回答紧紧围绕与工作岗位相关的工作经验和技能,目的是为了建立起工作和个人能力的匹配度,并从侧面说明自己能胜任这项工作。

一些求职者由于没有相关工作经验,不知如何回答。不要紧张,你还可以从其他方面来证明自己。如果你是一名在校生或者刚刚毕业的学生,可以提及自己在学术方面取得的成就,或者举例参加过的志愿者活动。再或者你可以说说自己曾经参加过哪些组织的活动,从中获得了哪些收益。下面为大家提供一个回答范例:

“I am soon going to graduate as a mechanical engineer from ABC college , and am currently looking for jobs in XYZ sector.During my course of engineering , I got involved in several projects and activities such as A, B , C which have given me a rich vain of experiences in X,Y and Z( eg analytics, teamwork, coding, event organization, research and design etc) . I have held several positions of responsibilities in my college such as A,B, C and won several awards /scholarships such as X,Y,Z. Prior to my engineering, I studied at X school, where I was a academically strong student  and won several scholarships and awards. ”

在做自我介绍时,应该突出自己的个性,强调自己的专业与能力,语气诚恳不夸大其词。同时也要调整好自己的情绪,自信大方地将真实的自己展现在面试官面前。在自我介绍完后不要忘记道声“谢谢”,给面试官留下一个好印象。

“What makes you unique? ” 是许多公司面试爱问问题之一。不少面试者绞尽脑汁思考自己在某一方面突出的才能,想体现自己的与众不同。其实面试官只是想知道“Why should I hire you? Or, why should I choose you over the other people I’m interviewing?”他们需要找的是最合适的人选而不是最完美的人选。在回答问题前,不妨想想你将如何做好这份工作,你能带来的价值,或者你将如何胜任这份工作。

以下为大家提供三个主要的答题方向:你的专业背景,你的相关经历以及你的软实力


背景

“My background is a little different from others in the field, which gives me a unique perspective that has allowed me to see solutions that are creative and resourceful. For example, I came up with X solution [tell what it was] to solve Y problem, and it worked out beautifully.”用具体数值来加以证明你的成果和能力,能让你的回答更有说服力。

经历

“I believe that my education in X [name your degree or classes here] combined with my work experience in Y give me an especially great advantage when approaching [a typical or critical problem this job addresses]. I draw on both to solve everyday issues and special challenges. For example, in [name a situation], I took [name the action you took] and got [name the results you got again, in the form of numbers, dollars, or percentages if you can].”

技能/特点

针对一些对专业能力或软实力如交际能力和组织能力要求较高的职位,面试者可以从职位相关要求出发,结合你之前工作经历谈谈自身具备的优势。如“I believe I have exceptional organizational skills. In my last job, I created a new system for task assignments that streamlined our productivity and improved it by 20%.”

综合以上三点,面试者应做好准备以便在面试中更自信的作答。聪明的回答能让面试者脱颖而出,也能给面试官留下深刻的印象。最后让我们再来看几个优秀的答题范本,供大家参考。

Example Answer 1: Project Manager

“Well, I have all of the skills and experience that you’re looking for and I’m confident that I would be a superstar in this project management role.

It’s not just my background leading successful projects for top companies —  or my people skills, which have helped me develop great relationships with developers, vendors, and senior managers alike. But I’m also passionate about this industry and I’m driven to deliver high-quality work.”

Example Answer 2: Programmer

“Honestly, I almost feel like the job description was written with me in mind. I have the 6 years of programming experience you’re looking for, a track record of successful projects, and proven expertise in agile development processes.

At the same time, I have developed my communication skills from working directly with senior managers, which means I am well prepared to work on high-profile, cross-department projects. I have the experience to start contributing from day one and I am truly excited about the prospect of getting started.”

大企业的面试环节常常会涉及到性格测试问题,目的是以此来了解面试者的性格,并根据性格分析来判断求职者的价值观是否与公司文化相符,以及是否适合该工作岗位。这类问题通常没有所谓的标准答案或正确答案,因此常常令求职者感觉为难。下面我们为大家提供几个常见性格测试面试题和答题建议,以供参考和准备。


“Describe Yourself In One Word.”

虽然面试官不会因为你回答的一个单词而作出决定,但却会影响到你的印象分。如何回答比较合适呢?这还需依据具体工作来回答。作答前你不仅需要从自身性格和特点寻找答案,还需要了解你申请的工作需要什么样的人,比如该工作岗位需要什么样的员工,具备哪些性格特色,人格魅力,以及个人能力,你都具备其中的哪些特征。不同工作种类需要不同性格的员工,可以从“motivated, strategic, reliable, focused, dynamic, organized, or accurate”等方面来考虑。面试官接下来还会问“Can you give me an example of how you embody that quality at work?”这时候需要举例说明你的性格在工作中如何体现的,以及为什么你的性格适合这份工作。

“Would You Rather Work On A Team Or Alone?”

在回答这个问题前,你要考虑这份工作需要一个什么样的员工。如果这项工作必须一个人独自完成,不太需要与他人协调配合工作,即使面试者喜欢在轻松的团队中工作,也应该避免在雇主面前表达不喜欢独立工作的想法,可以回答“I enjoy the responsibility of working alone, but I find that occasionally brainstorming with a team and working together is refreshing.” 表明自己虽然能够独立完成工作任务,但仍然享受团队合作的乐趣。如果面试的是需要与他人密切沟通配合的工作,但你喜欢独自工作, 可以回答“I like the give-and-take of working in a group, but I appreciate sometimes having my own piece of a project.”表示你喜欢在团队中工作,单独工作能让你的工作效率更高。

“Describe Your Work Style.”

在面试员工时,应聘官通常会对应聘者的工作风格进行提问,因为从这道题能反映出面试者的性格和在工作上的喜好。如果面试者回答“I’m a Type A go-getter,”或者“I dislike conflict, so I like to maintain peaceful relationships at work.”能看出他能很好地融入工作环境中,也会是一个很好的团队合作者。面试者可以通过这道题向应聘官证明你符合这份工作的要求并能胜任这份工作。如果你有很强的组织能力和领导能力,或者有能力同时处理多项任务。 回答这道题前建议先考虑这份工作需要的员工类型,再结合岗位需要描述自己与其匹配度,来证明自己将会是一个很适合的员工。
